Privacy Policy
Point Taker collects no data about you. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no server. The app never connects to the internet. Everything it stores stays on your device.
What the app stores
Your match in progress
After every rally, Point Taker saves the current score, serve position and undo history to a private folder inside the app on your device. This exists for one reason: so a phone that locks on the sideline, or gets shut down by iOS while it sits in your bag, comes back to the same score instead of a blank board.
A saved match is discarded automatically once it is more than four hours old, and it is erased entirely when you delete the app. It is never uploaded, shared or backed up to any service of ours — we do not operate one.
Health data (Apple Watch only)
When you start scoring a match on Apple Watch, the app starts a workout session. This is what keeps the scoreboard in front of you between rallies; without it, watchOS returns to the clock face seconds after you lower your wrist and hides the score. It also means the time you spend on court can be saved as a badminton workout in the Health app, the way any other activity would be.
For that, the watch app asks Apple Health for permission to:
- Read your heart rate and active energy, so that the workout it saves reflects what you actually did.
- Write a badminton workout and its active energy to Health when the match ends.
This data is handled entirely by Apple's HealthKit on your own device. Point Taker does not transmit it, store a copy of it outside Health, or share it with anyone. We cannot see it.
Health access is optional. If you decline it, the scoreboard still works completely — scoring, undo, reset, doubles rotation and match resume are all unaffected. The only difference is that the screen follows watchOS's normal return-to-clock timing, and no workout is saved. You can change or revoke this permission at any time in the Health app under Sharing › Apps, or in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices.
What the app does not do
- No account, sign-in, email address or profile of any kind.
- No network requests. The app contains no networking code and works identically in Airplane Mode.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or usage measurement.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No third-party SDKs. The app is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access — the iPhone app requests no permissions at all.
- No selling or sharing of personal information, because none is ever gathered.
Children
Point Taker is suitable for all ages and is rated 4+. Because it collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children. It contains no ads, no purchases, no chat and no links out to the web.
Your rights
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or erase. The data on your device is yours: deleting the app removes the saved match, and Health data is managed by you in the Health app, independently of Point Taker.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what it stores or asks for, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's What's New text on the App Store.
